The story of the ZIRU brand.

At the end of 2011, I took a train from Xinjiang back to my hometown in Henan. Along the way, I passed through numerous deserts and Sand dunes regions, encountered many remote villages and isolated houses. My heart was filled with sorrow, and I thought of Du Fu’s words, “How can we build countless grand houses to shelter all the impoverished scholars and bring joy to their faces?” This poignant sentiment stirred within me a boundless sense of ambition, making me feel compelled to do something about it. Images of a peaceful life, such as “Neighbors finish their winter plowing and stand alone by the fence gate counting the cattle,” began to form in my mind. This sparked the idea of creating doors. After some time of contemplation, the ZIRU Wooden Door Factory came into being.

Why is it called “ZIRU”? “ZIRU” refers both to behavior and a state. It embodies the broad-mindedness of “as free and unrestrained as ever, experiencing great freedom,” as well as the skill of “controlling and releasing with ease, maintaining a balanced tension and relaxation.” The “Platform Sutra” states, “One true, all true; myriad realms as free and unrestrained as ever; the mind of equality is the very essence of reality.” The term “ZIRU” aptly conveys my attitude and aspirations towards life and work. Therefore, I was quite pleased when the trademark for the “ZIRU” 19-category wooden door was approved by the State Trademark Office.
